If you’ve ever been to the Errington Farmers’ Market in the past 17 years, then you’ll already be familiar with Steve Simo and the delicious gourmet products that he brings to the market each Saturday. That’s 17 years of perfecting recipes, dreaming up new creations, and greeting market folks each weekend…and Steve has loved every minute of it.
Steve draws his inspiration from his customers, and he enjoys the challenge of creating new items that people will enjoy while satisfying a wide variety of food preferences and dietary needs. While his favourite thing to display at his market stall are the jams, jellies and other canned products that he has created, Steve’s favourite thing to make are his fresh fruit pies.
Baking pies is special to me because it has become a joint effort between myself, my wife, and my granddaughter to produce them. They’re definitely our top seller!
After so many years of being a regular market vendor, Steve has many fond memories of our special little market in the woods. A particular favourite of his is when he used to bring his granddaughters to the market to sell small bouquets of flowers and brownies when they used to visit him in Canada, before eventually moving here.
There is much love in Steve’s family, and a lot of it goes into his time at the Saturday market.
Try his raspberry jam, and you’ll taste it yourself.
