Our History

The Errington Farmers’ Market was established in 1973 by the late Gerry Shaw with the help of her father, Fred Kaufer, husband Terry, and sons Mark and Stan. Originally located across the road from the Errington General Store, the market became a popular destination for Errington and area residents on Saturday mornings. Sadly, Gerry was struck by cancer and passed away in 1988. A non-profit society was formed to carry the Market forward. Click Here for more information on the early years of the market.

When the original Market site was sold in 1992, we had to find a new home. The Farmers’ Market subsequently moved to its present location at the Community Park next to the Errington Hall. With the kind cooperation of the Hall Association, and utilizing donated materials, our volunteers constructed permanent, covered wooden booths, picnic tables and a small coffee shop in a clearing next to the ball field so that our Saturday morning market ritual could be resumed.

The Market opened in its current location in July 1993. From its inception in 1973 to the present, the Market continues to provide visitors with an enjoyable way to spend a Saturday morning.
